A lot has happened. And I have neglected you sorely, dear blog. Let’s see what has transpired in the last few um, days, weeks?

Julia is super smart. She is learning at leaps and bounds, reading letters off of signs and trying to put them together. She can spell her name for us now J-U-L-I-A and she’s pretty much remembering everything we say. Which is not always a good thing, if ya know what I mean. Damn my sailor mouth. But she’s mostly just sponging up info. Next up I suppose is the actual reading process, or learning to write her name, etc. We’ve signed her up for pre-ballet lessons so that she can get a little physical teaching and child interaction.

Stephen and I celebrated nine years of wedded bliss. Nine. We took a trip away from Julia for the first time that was supposed to be three days/two nights but left a day early. We just couldn’t leave Jules that long. Plus, she was pretty miserable spending her first night away from us as well.

Writing - feh. No one wants my poetry right now, or it sucks, or something. We’ll see once I have more time to devote. Finished my semester at college with two A’s.

Finally, a sad bit o’ news. One of our dearest family members has left us. We’d been together a long time - five or six years, and he’d been an integral part of Julia’s first year. His presence each morning brought a smile to our face, and we couldn’t wait to hear his little sounds as he woke up. Of course, I’m talking about our Melitta coffee maker. :( He sadly went to the Great Appliance afterlife two days ago, and we were forced to find a replacement. We ended up with the Cuisinart Thermal 10-Cup Programmable Coffee Maker. We shall see if he performs adequately.

Ok, not really bad, but weird. I bought a CD. Not any CD mind you - a Celine Dion CD. Ok it was on sale, and ok I know to some people she’s the epitome of a songstress, but me? I wear stretched ear piercings and have 10 tattoos. I listen to classic rock and once owned an electric guitar.

The thing is, I love to sing. And while singing along with metal tracks might be fun, they just aren’t really in my range. I needed something to sing with. I got Celine. And I like it.

Aside from my brief dalliance into the world of adult contemporary music, my life’s been relatively uneventful. Finished my semester at college, planted my garden (such as it is) and have been enjoying allergy season… um, yeah.
